Texas Health Services Authority Hearing on the State of Privacy and Cybersecurity in Texas
October 5, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Texas Health Services Authority (“the Authority”) is seeking public comment on the state of health care privacy and cybersecurity in Texas. In 2007, the Texas Legislature created the Authority to promote, implement, and facilitate the voluntary and secure exchange of health information in the State of Texas.
In 2011, the Legislature created the framework for a program to be administered by the Authority offering health care entities privacy and security certification for compliance with state and federal medical privacy and security laws. The Authority completed development of the program the following year. Today that program is known as SECURETexas, the only state program of its kind in the country offering privacy and security certification to covered entities.
In response to interest from the health care community, the Authority’s Board of Directors will be conducting a public hearing on the state of efforts to ensure privacy and protection of electronic health care information in Texas.
